Beautiful skin that looks years younger can be yours with laser skin resurfacing by Georgetown Plastic Surgery which proudly serves the greater Georgetown area.

How does laser skin resurfacing work?

Laser skin resurfacing improves the appearance of your complexion, smooths and tightens skin and treats minor facial flaws. Skin of the face, neck and upper chest can be treated. Dr. Staebel will use a laser that sends short, concentrated pulsating beams of light at areas of irregular skin. This vaporizes superficial, damaged skin cells, removing the unwanted, skin in a very precise manner one layer at a time. It also stimulates the growth of new collagen fibers, resulting in new smoother and firmer skin.

Laser resurfacing has been around for a long time and has gone through many refinements.  The technology Dr. Staebel uses is termed ‘fractional CO2 resurfacing’ and balances minimal downtime with a significant result.  The technology is also called ‘Fraxel’ or ‘Dot-therapy’ by the manufacturers of different lasers.  We have a fully customizable laser which allows us to provide mild treatments for a fast recovery or aggressive treatments for a more dramatic result!

What benefits can I expect from laser skin resurfacing?

The proven fractional CO2 technology delivers transformative results with skin that feels smoother, looks less blotchy, and has a glow to it. These laser treatments by Dr. Staebel are an excellent choice to:

• Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Minimize the appearance of age spots
• Help remove sun damage
• Treat Actinic Keratosis, a common pre-cancerous skin condition
• Lessen acne scarring and surgical scars
• Improve your skin’s texture and tone

Recovery and other considerations.

At Georgetown Plastic Surgery, a full facial laser resurfacing treatment takes about an hour and feels a bit like “pins and needles”. Numbing gel is applied to your skin for comfort and a mild oral sedative may be given.  After the treatment your skin will look very red which will fade over the next couple of days. Usually you can go back to normal activities including work, with make-up, after several days.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Staebel will recommend a custom treatment plan, of just the right depth and intensity, to achieve your optimum results.   Contact Georgetown Plastic Surgery today for a consultation, we will tell you more about laser resurfacing treatments and how they can make you look years younger.
